Fashion Detox
“This project was created for our Sustainable Consumption Behavior assignment. We were tasked with having to evaluate our own fashion consumption behavior through an experiment lasting a month. For the whole month of October our team had to refrain from buying any new fashion items, including second-hand. This was called a Fashion Detox. We documented our experiences in journals whenever there was a time of temptation. Our team found it more difficult than expected but we had our solutions. We borrowed clothing from friends or family, repurposed old clothing, and changed our consumption thought process. We reflected upon our experiences and concluded that most of our own purchases were impulsive. Our team has vowed to make a concerted effort to think through purchases thoroughly as to not contribute to unsustainable consumption.”
