“The project Far Out represents the concept of EMPOWERMENT by showing the different events that people in the 1970s had to go through. The board represents the first gay pride movement that happened in June of 1970. This event made homosexual people feel like they can finally speak out about who they truly are, and these events made them feel empowered. This project also shows how women were getting more into the workforce. This is why power suits were on-trend during this time because women were working more and they needed to wear them to work. This part of the project embodies the concept of empowerment because women were finally getting to do more in society and getting more jobs was a big deal for women and their freedom. Getting a powerful career for women can make them feel empowered.”
