This dress is sure to catch everyone’s attention when one walks through the door. The bright red is jaw-dropping, especially with its v-neck strapless bodice and cress cross black strapping. This formal dress was inspired by the Janet Lee Rees collection at Kansas State University Historic Costume and Textile Museum. I pulled inspiration from Janet’s black and white polka dot dress that had bow accents on the sleeves. Many of my design features on this dress are prevalent throughout our history of women’s dress with a modern spin on it. I think this is very empowering for an individual on a social level because it makes them feel special and beautiful. The red paired with the black gives it a sexy feel while still being modest. The tie to the looks we have seen popular in history helps this dress be a timeless piece that will always be sure to make someone feel on top of the world.
